Our Philosophy

Dignitas is more than our name, It is our philosophy.

The Latin term refers to providing a personal sense of dignity and esteem after a catastrophic injury.

At Dignitas, Inc., our mission is to restore a sense of worth and independence to individuals with acquired brain injuries or spinal cord injuries.
Our goal is to maximize each client's independence.

Daily living skills are promoted through on-going programming including grooming, meal preparation, household chores, budgeting, socialization, community reintegration, and physical conditioning.

Internal healthcare management is an integral part of our program.

An individualized plan is formulated and implemented with input from the client, family, treating physician, guardian, case manager, dietician, recreational therapist, psychologist and members of the team providing care.

Each client's care plan identifies a team of service providers in the community, which may include occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, physiatrist, neurologists, psychiatrists, neuro-psychologist, and behavioral specialists.

Our Program

Dignitas has several residential homes in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. These homes are licensed by the State of Michigan to provide specialty services to persons with acquired brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.

The facilities provide 24-hour supervision with skilled care providers and structure in a home atmosphere. We have a high staff to client ratio to ensure quality of care at our homes. These homes adhere to all related regulations and guidelines.

All homes are handicap accessible with wheelchair ramps and interior modifications to provide barrier-free movement within the homes.

Transitional Apartments

Transitional apartments in our residential homes provide a safe training environment to observe and assess less restrictive environment providing a natural progression to a semi independent environment.

The operations of Dignitas are overseen by a Board of Directors and consultants from a wide variety of academic and medical backgrounds and experience. All of our homes provide service to male and female residents 18 years of age and older.
